On the occasion of World Earth Day 2021, almost a hundred volunteers from various parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided to help with cleaning the rivers in their neighborhoods. Within a few days, they collected more than 200 bags of waste in the vicinity of 9 rivers. “We hope these events can remind us that we have to protect our rivers, both against hydropower plants and pollution, but we should not forget that in the first place, keeping the rivers clean should be the responsibility of authorities, not the ecological activists,” says Zuzana Vachunova from Arnika, coordinator of the joint project with Coalition for the Protection of the Rivers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Center for the Environment BiH.
