After years of negotiations, the municipality of Balabanesti agreed with planting a new forest around the Baltata river. It will protect the land from soil erosion and the river itself from cattle pasture and agricultural activities.
On November 17, 2021, a talk was held at the local high school for 60 students and their teachers on the purpose and method of planting; all of them then took part in the planting. The planting took place on November 21 2021. More than 400 people (including 12 members of local government and 20 representatives of the Chamber of Commerce who brought and planted 100 of their own seedlings) planted over 7,000 trees.
