Mercury contamination of fish in Babeni reservoir impacted by wastewater discharge from the Oltchim S.A. chlor-alkali plant represents a considerable health risk for local fish consumers. Mercury concentrations in fish from the reservoir were well above the WHO guidelines for fish consumption.
