Armenia is living in an abundance of minerals. Non-ferrous metal deposits are a gift, and at the same time a curse for the republic to the south of Caucasus. Mining industry is an important part of Armenian economy, but its devastating effect on lives of people there casts a cloud over its economic benefits. Lack of knowledge and regulation of by-effects of copper, gold, or molybden mining is making health difficulties to these poor of Armenians besides the impacts of contaminated soil and water on their modest family farms. In february, we did map the situation at some chosen mines in the north part of the country.
