The natural flow of the small Sukhaya Rybnitsa river (a tributary to the Dniester on its left bank) is threatened - it has been gradually losing water it might eventually dry out.
Its banks are deforested and unprotected from cattle and the impacts of agriculture. Its watercourse was modified, and the sediments were recently excavated. The local NGO called DZHiP (which is an acronym for “friends of animal and nature” in the local language) organized here the planting of a protective belt of trees to stabilize the river, help retain water and improve the protection of the surrounding lands from the floods. The final event took place on 14th November 2021, when the group of 40 volunteers, many from Tiraspol who traveled almost 150 km in order to participate, planted 130 trees (mostly rowans and willows) to prolong the alley of 200 trees planted in previous years.
