A new large municipal waste incinerator is to be built also in the power plant in České Budějovice. It would be the third largest municipal waste incinerator in the Czech Republic. The waste from České Budějovice would only fill about one quarter of the incinerator's capacity; the rest of the waste would have to be imported from a wide area, perhaps even from abroad. The construction of an incinerator is also planned in nearby Planá nad Lužnicí. Locals are also concerned about increased traffic, noise and emissions.
