On 15th October 2022, Biotica and Arnika organized an excursion to the “Orheiul Vechi” Cultural Natural Reserve, focusing on the administration of a protected natural area. Participants were representatives of the working groups from the Lower Dniester National Park localities, with whom we collaborated on adapting their local development strategies.
First, the Orheiul Vechi Reserve Director, Mr. Ion Ciobanu, informed us about the site's management. The participants then visited the remains of the Tatar settlement, Shehr al Jedid, which represents an important historical and archaeological complex. Mr. Ion Ciobanu explained the measures taken to protect this cultural monument. The following program included meeting several small local businesses and visiting the Butuceni Ethnography Museum and the Butuceni Archeology Museum.
