In both EU directives and regulations dealing with biodiversity and its protection and conservation, as well as in international treaties and documents on nature protection, one can spot terms and provisions which are frequently used, but often not properly understood, or even misunderstood by those who have to implement them in countries preparing themselves for accession into the EU.
This English/Romanian bilingual glossary provides a selection of such terms or situations in which they are used, with an aim to show which meanings or interpretations are correct. By pointing out mistake sand misunderstandings and explaining the correct meaning, this brief document could help to avoid repetition of mistakes done in the past abroad – as every time, such a repetition means time, capacity, and financial losses, in other words, losses of resources which are very scarce in candidate countries, and which should instead be used in a useful and reasonable way.
