Wild Rivers of Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the last countries in Europe with good quality natural drinking water, which is changing drastically due to hydropower plant construction which is endangering our citizens’ rights to clean and healthy drinking water. The development of tourism, traditional and complementary activities along our rivers can create more diverse jobs and achieve greater development of local communities than it would be realistically possible through the hydropower projects development. In this publication, we present only a few of the rivers for which we fight.

There are currently many battles against hydro power plants in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the local population, which is directly dependent on these rivers, is most important and ready to defend them by all means. Rivers are a common good, not the property of individuals. Governments discriminate public interest in favor of private interests and this must be stopped.
