Chlorine Production – a Large Source of Mercury Releases (The Czech Republic Case Study)

This report is a summary of information about two Czech chlor-alkali plants and their mercury releases into the environment. The report covers mercury flows to all environment compartments and also monitoring of mercury in air and water ecosystems. Arnika - Toxics and Waste Programme prepared this report as part of its work within the Zero Mercury Working Group. The Zero Mercury Working Group, is an international coalition of over 55 public-interest non-governmental organisations from around the world formed in 2005 by the European Environmental Bureau and the Mercury Policy Project/Ban Mercury Working Group.
